The handcrafted listening staion, designed by David Elis and constructed by Abasi Ote, allows citizens to hear the recorded voices of community members who talk about local African-American history. Located in the Weldon Johnson Library at the Enoch Davis Center (1111 18th Ave. S in St. Petersburg), the listening station currently has a special exhibit on the 1968 sanitation strike with a taped interview from Fred Winters and a number of photos from the St. Petersburg Times.
