I am a developmental health psychologist with a background in developmental psychology, behavioral medicine, and statistics. At SYFAH lab, we focus on understanding psychosocial factors associated with lung health, such as asthma self-management and tobacco use among youths. Ultimately, the goal of our research team is to translate our findings to develop strategies to promote lung health in the medical and community settings. Another line of my research focuses on adolescent health risk behaviors, such as substance use and delinquency. Attention to the roles of culture, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and development is central to my research programs. When I'm not doing research, I teach Health Psychology, Psychological Statistics, and Research Methods in Psychology at USF St. Petersburg. I also volunteer at the Suncoast Pediatric Asthma Coalition. When I'm not teaching or doing research, I try to balance my life with jogging, swimming, spending time with my husband, friends, and our cats, Tigger and Momo.
